Looking Forward to Spring! | Joey and Teddy

Spring has arrived and with it nicer weather, ( well this is England so it's still not thrilling ) it's lighter for longer and of course the countryside is beginning to bloom! I love Spring and find that this is the season Joey, Teddy, James and I explore the most - and take the most photos too!

This Spring we are looking forward to:
- A trip to Wales, to play on the beach and have a bbq with my parents who will be hollidaying there.
- Camping together! We have only taken Joey and Teddy camping once so far, it rained and felt pretty difficult. So, we are looking forward to a dry and sunny camping trip or two in Spring when work allows.
- Visiting the beautiful Lake District!
- Taking some Easter photos of Joey and Teddy - watch this space!
- Time spent in the garden and being able to sit out for dinner and weekends etc - bliss!
- Shooting 'Springtime' for our 2014 memory book.

What are you up to this Spring?!

Here's handsome Joey enjoying some shade and having a break on a big walk last year:

Whoever said Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, Didn't Have a Dog | Joey and Teddy

Joey is my best friend, faithful companion and furbaby. I don't write or say these words lightly, I mean them with all of my heart. We adopted Joey two years ago now, and the changes he has made to my life are immense, not to mention the changes we have made to his. Once a very nervous dog, scared if you got a pan out of the cupboard to cook - he would run away to hide or for a long time he wouldn't even step into the garden on his own. He had so many quirks and issues but has come so far to be a very happy dog indeed ( even when he little brother Teddy is terrorising him! )

I often call him my sunshine, firstly because he really is, and secondly, he loves sunshine - as do I! It's a common love we share and enjoy together! These days, Joey will take himself off into the garden for a lay out in the sunshine and I will look at him and feel so proud for how far he has come and what an achievement this little act is. I'm of course proud that we did that for him too. It took time, tears, patience and understanding, but the result is the beautiful friendship and life we share together.

National Dress Up Your Dog Day | Joey and Teddy

Instagram was full of fantastic doggy portraits this morning for National dress up your dog day - #nationaldressupyourdogday - and we did a quick impromptu couple of photos of Joey and Teddy. If you're a regular reader of Itty Bitty Fluffy blog you'll know that Joey doesn't mind wearing a scarf or even Christmas lights! He will pose away for a treat or two! Teddy is another story but we managed to snap him wearing a snood although he does look a little cross about it! Follow us on Intagram for more fun with me Joey and Teddy { here } ...

Instagram Friends | Border Nerd | Aki Yamaguci

I get so excited to see the latest photos from Border Nerd on my Instagram feed! They are always completely adorable, touching and artistic. The lady behind Border Nerd is the beautiful Aki Yamaguci and her stunning dogs are Jazzy and Cooper. Aki's dogs are both retired search and rescue dogs and registered therapy dogs too! As if that wasn't amazing enough, Aki is passionate about rescuing, fostering, adoption and senior dogs.

Having enjoyed Aki, Jazzy and Cooper on Instagram, I popped over to her blog Capture the Angels : Just Me, My Camera and My Border Collie which is a beautiful diary of her adventures with her furry companions - and a recommended read ( of course with plenty of photos too ).

Pet Session - Shamrock the Samoyed & Rachel Barkman Photography

I'm so delighted to introduce you to Rachel Barkman Photography and beautiful Shamrock the Samoyed - isn't he amazing! He is like a big version of our little Japanese Spitz Teddy! I just love this boy - he has the cutest legs and paws, pointy ears, kind eyes and a very happy expression indeed...

We hand over to Rachel who tells us more about Shamrock and their wonderful session...

"Shamrock is family. He is a purebred Samoyed and is also the nephew of my dog, Zivah! Whenever Zivah needs cheering up, we take her to visit Shamrock. Shammy is a bright light anywhere he goes. He loves people and will light up with a big "Sammy smile" when you call his name. He is one of the perkiest, happiest dogs I have ever met!"

"Shamrock was adopted as an adult from our breeder who had a change in her living situation and wanted to find Shamrock a home where he could get the love and attention he needs. Shamrock and his owners wanted some photos of him, so I headed over one beautiful spring day and took him to his local park. Shamrock is happy to listen and therefore was a very easy subject to photograph!"

With Thanks to Shamrock and Rachel Barkman Photography

Chase & Snap Pet Photography's Strays Around the World Project

I was so touched to  find out about the Strays Around the World Project by Stephanie, of the wonderful Chase & Snap Pet Photography. Stephanie recently enjoyed her Honeymoon in the Dominican Republic and whilst she was there she captured the latest installment of her heartfelt project. It is so amazing to raise awareness for a worldwide issue and I'm personally so proud of Stephanie taking her time to help this cause - even on her honeymoon! Please stop by and show your support by giving a 'like' on the Strays Around the World Facebook Page { here } and you can read more about the project below too...

Strays Around the World is a project started by Stephanie Madeline in 2010, inspired by a trip to Puerto Rico. It was there she realized the extent of the stray animal over population problem of other countries. The New Jersey based pet photographer will travel the world documenting strays in order to raise awareness as well as raise funds for organizations with similar causes. Stephanie has so far documented strays from Puerto Rico, Italy and Dominican Republic. Planned countries include England, Ireland, Thailand, China, Japan, Russia, Costa Rica, Mexico & more! Photos, calendars, greeting cards and books will be available for purchase in the future. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Project Animal Worldwide, a non-profit organization dedicated to spaying/neutering strays in Puerto Rico as well as find homes for them and 600million.org, an organization dedicated to developing a safe and humane birth control pill for dogs and cats.

Pet Session - Foster Puppies by BrindleBerry Custom Pet Photography

How delightful it was to receive this beautiful session full of cute puppies from Holly of BrindleBerry Custom Pet Photography! Holly actually had the pleasure of fostering these little cutie pies whilst they each awaited a foster home - it is so wonderful to hear about the endless good deeds so many Pet Photographers do for animals - they are passionate about them at work and in their personal lives!

Holly tells us more about the beautiful puppies... "I recently made the decision to become a Holding Home for half a litter of St. Bernard mix puppies for a local rescue called ARF - Animal Rescue Foundation (www.arf.ab.ca) when their adorable mugs appeared in my Facebook feed. These puppies were only 5 weeks old and not ready to be separated into foster care, so they needed a place just to "grow up" a little. We have had the puppies with us for three days now, and their little personalities are starting to flourish."

"Josh - Josh is one of the biggest of the litter and boy oh boy is he handsome! He could fool just about anyone into thinking he's a purebred St. Bernard! He is so gentle and laid back.

Zach - AKA Zach "Attack". LIttle Zach is the smallest of the litter, and he's just so darn sweet! He is probably the most well rounded pup of the litter. He's loveable, but will go off on his own. He is cautious but not nervous. Love you Zach my man!

Lilly - Lilly is just a sweetheart! She loves cuddles, and is very social without being clingy. We call her Silly Lilly the Hillbilly.

Dakota - SIGH Dakota. I would love to keep this one right here with us! Besides being a stunner, she is very loveable and fun. She likes to follow me and my husband around, but is not afraid to go and play with the others.

Benny - Oh Benny. Benny is the independent one! When I do a head count, it's always Benny that's missing! And he's usually busy entertaining himself with a stick or grass or something!

Ryan - Ryan is another sizeable pup! He is best know for being a goof and of all the pups he loves people the most. Ryan thinks it's hilarious to barrel into you when you least expect it.

If you are looking for a very fulfilling and rewarding way to make a difference, consider fostering for one of your local rescues. And, if you are looking for a puppy, these guys will be ready for adoption from ARF in about three weeks time!"

With Thanks to Holly of BrindleBerry Custom Pet Photography and all the cute puppies
for sharing this session with us and good luck to them in finding their
forever families and homes too!

Pet Session - Massimo & Sarah McGraw Photography

Meet Massimo, a beautiful Golden Retriever / Boxer mix with kind, amber - brown eyes and a very happy face indeed! Massimo is a rescue dog and his session was captured by the wonderful pet photographer, Sarah McGraw Photography...

We hand over to Sarah who tells us more about Massimo and their session together...

"Massimo is the first dog ever adopted by my client. She wasn’t really sure what to expect but she knew she wanted him to be well trained. Fortunately for her, Massimo caught on quick and is one of the most well-trained dogs I’ve worked with! Massimo is a playful and friendly pooch with an affinity for cat food and toys that make real animal noises. He’s not a big fan of children but will make a day out of chasing squirrels, rabbit, and even deer. Actually, as you’ll see, he must like to chase ducks too. ;)"

"This handsome Golden/Boxer mix started the photo shoot off in style by showing off his undeniable smile. We had Massimo’s session at a beautiful little park in Ballentyne Corporate Park. The setting was spectacular and the sunlight – oh the sunlight!!! Toward the end of the shoot, Massimo was allowed to get in the water. Oh yeah! We worked on his retrieving skills, his duck chasing, and his super cute adorableness! Props to Massimo’s mom for the great training she provided for him. He was so easy to work with and, wow, what a sweetie!"

With Thanks to Massimo & Sarah McGraw Photography for sharing their session with us!
